- Did anyone else see the senior class gift project at Frassati?
You are right Karen, a local Eagle Scout installed the American flag out there originally! My neighbor's son is in Scouts with the troop that helped with that project, so he was telling us about it. It is going to look so nice having the Texas flag and the Vatican flag flanking the US flag now. Dios mio, ten thousand dollars is a big goal for high schoolers, but they knocked it out so fast during August.

- Weekly vent thread: tiny ruin vs tiny win
Ay, my youngest stepped right into a fresh mud puddle right as we were walking into school after rain on Tuesday. Brand new sneakers ruined before first bell. Saved: My sweet coworker brought me breakfast tacos when she came into the office. Total lifesaver for my day.

- Best breakfast tacos around spring / louetta / rayford?
If you are anywhere near Airtex or down Louetta near I-45, you need to go to Taqueria Arandas or the taco truck right by the gas station off Spring Cypress and Holzwarth. My family has been going there for years. Real homemade tortillas, the green salsa has actual heat, and the bacon egg and cheese is always hot. Mi esposo gets the chicharron con huevo every time. Just bring cash for the small spots!

- Recreational sports for beginners that are low pressure?
Just keep an eye on registration deadlines! Spring rec leagues usually open up registration early in the winter and fill up quick, but some of the Y leagues have late signups if they still have team spots open. Check their website tonight so you do not miss the deadline!

- Recreational sports for beginners that are low pressure?
Seconding i9 and Meyer Park rec soccer! Mi hijo started at Meyer Park when he was six and he made so many friends from school there. The volunteer coaches are usually just parents from around the neighborhood so nobody is screaming on the sidelines. Very relaxed atmosphere for beginners.

- Clearing out kids clothes and gear - what are your local BST golden rules?
If I am selling gear or higher value items like a bike or stroller, I always meet in public. The parking lot at the HEB on Louetta and Stuebner Airline is usually pretty busy and feels safe during the day. Another good spot is the Harris County Sheriff office parking lot off Cypresswood. Most legitimate buyers do not mind meeting there at all, and scammers disappear as soon as you give them that address. Que le vaya bien with your closet purge!

- Where do you take out of town family when they visit for a weekend?
You definitely have to take them out for good Tex-Mex! Whenever mi familia comes in from out of state, that is the first thing they ask for. We usually take visitors to El Kiosko near Airtex or up toward Louetta depending on where we are heading that day. Get some fresh chips, salsa, and fajitas. Out of towners from the Midwest always love real fresh tortillas! It is a great way to welcome them to Texas.

- Tuesday night dining out with kids where grown ups can actually enjoy the food?
For Mexican food on a weeknight, we love Rancho Grande off Kuykendahl. The staff is so patient with small kids, mi mamá always orders the sizzling fajitas and they bring out chips right away before the kids start getting restless. If we are closer to I-45, Gringo’s on Cypresswood is another classic. The free soft serve at the end keeps my youngest happy every single time.

- Real storm prep tips for hurricane season (not just buying 50 cases of water)
Put your important papers in gallon Ziploc bags inside a waterproof plastic tote. Birth certificates, insurance policies, house deed, pet record shots. If water comes through a roof leak near Airtex or anywhere, you are not scrambling to save soaked paper. Also, a small single burner butane camp stove saved us last time. My husband bought it at the Asian market off Veterans Memorial years ago. We could make fresh coffee every morning and heat up tortillas or soup right on the patio table. Coffee keeps morale high when the air conditioning is out.

- Best cut throughs to avoid kuykendahl and louetta around 7:30-8:15 am?
Ay, that intersection is a nightmare every single August through May! My sister lives off Falvel and she will not even touch Louetta after 7:15 am. If you are trying to get out to 45, cutting through near Cypress Station to hit Ella or Spring Stuebner is so much easier. Gracias to whoever fixed the pothole on Ella near the railroad tracks last month, that used to destroy my tires.

- Rainy day ideas for toddlers that are cheap or free?
Ay, rainy days with toddlers are no joke! When my kids were chiquitos and it rained non stop, we used to go walk around Willowbrook Mall early. The mall doors open before the actual stores do, so it is completely empty, dry, and clean for a baby to toddle around while you walk. Also if you are up near Rayford or Sawdust, the bakery section at Target or HEB is always a hit. My kids used to love looking at the birthday cakes in the display glass while I drank my coffee.

- Found a dog near spring trails entrance plus need a local vet rec
Oh poor baby! I hope you find his family soon. Definitely post his picture on the local lost and found pet groups on Facebook too, people share those posts so fast in our area. For your cat, we have gone to Champions Forest Animal Clinic off Louetta for years and love Dr. Davis. Gracias for taking care of that sweet doggie while he is lost!

- How do parents actually keep up with board meetings for Klein ISD and Spring ISD? is it worth going in person?
For Spring ISD, the meetings are at the Gordon M. Anderson Leadership Center over off Ella Blvd. My kids are in Spring ISD and I will tell you right now, fighting traffic on 45 and Ella at 6 PM is no fun at all! I watch the videos online later while folding laundry. They stream them on YouTube and the district site, and they have the notes available in Spanish too which is super helpful for my mom when she wants to know what is going on.

- Need a reliable plumber who actually shows up near Louetta area
Yes Rae, he is fully master licensed and insured! His license number is printed right on the side of his white truck. I would never recommend anyone who takes shortcuts with plumbing, water damage in Houston humidity is no joke.

- Need a reliable plumber who actually shows up near Louetta area
We always call Señor Gomez with AG Plumbing. He lives right over off Airtex and has done work for my mom, my sister, and two of my coworkers. Very honest man. He came out on a Saturday when our water heater started leaking and charged us so fairly. Mi esposo won't let anyone else touch our pipes.
