Best breakfast tacos around spring / louetta / rayford?

My husband and I have lived near Old Town Spring for three years now and we still fight about this every Saturday morning. He wants drive-thru speed, I want actual homemade flour tortillas that do not taste like rubber. We usually end up at different places or just settling. What is your absolute go-to for breakfast tacos in the area? I need good salsa, reasonable timing, and tortillas that were actually cooked this morning.

If you are anywhere near Airtex or down Louetta near I-45, you need to go to Taqueria Arandas or the taco truck right by the gas station off Spring Cypress and Holzwarth. My family has been going there for years. Real homemade tortillas, the green salsa has actual heat, and the bacon egg and cheese is always hot. Mi esposo gets the chicharron con huevo every time. Just bring cash for the small spots!

If I am driving to the Galleria at 6:15 AM I do not have time for a slow line or sitting at a table. Rudy's off I-45 near Cypresswood is my lifesaver. Grab a brisket egg and cheese taco right from the warmers, get a cup of coffee, and back on the highway in three minutes flat. Are they the absolute fancy gourmet taco? No. But at 6:20 AM on a Tuesday when traffic on I-45 is already building, they are unbeatable.

Okay silly question maybe, but back in Ohio we did not have breakfast taco trucks on every corner, we just had Bob Evans breakfast burritos! Are the trucks on Rayford safe to eat at with kids? My neighbor mentioned one near Imperial Oaks but I was hesitant to pull up with my six year old. Also what salsa do you ask for if you do not like super spicy food? Sorry if that is a dumb question!

Sarah yes the trucks on Rayford are totally fine my boys eat their weight in potato egg and cheese from the blue truck near Grand Parkway literally every Saturday after soccer practice line moves fast and salsa roja will burn your tongue off so stick to green or ask for mild!

If you are watching your budget, buying breakfast tacos out for five people gets ridiculous real fast. Taco Cabana on Louetta has cheap potato and egg options if you use the app, but honestly buying a pack of flour tortillas at HEB on Spring Cypress, a dozen eggs, and a pack of bacon is under eight dollars total. My kids eat three each and I am not spending twenty five dollars on Saturday morning breakfast.

If you want to make your own like Beck said, grab the raw Tortillaland flour tortillas from the refrigerated section at HEB. Throw them on a hot Lodge cast iron skillet for forty seconds each side. Way better than pre-baked bag tortillas and tastes just like the taco stands without leaving the house.
