Weekly vent thread: tiny ruin vs tiny win

It is only Wednesday and my twins managed to spill an entire gallon of milk behind the fridge which was completely disgusting until I pulled the fridge out and cleaned it, but tiny win is the HEB on Riley Fuzzel had the big bags of the sweet popcorn on sale and nobody yelled in the car on the way home. What ruined and saved your week so far?

Twins. Yes really. No I do not sleep.

Ruined: ER shift at three in the morning with a broken ice machine and three cardiac admissions at once. Saved: my husband bought the good dark roast grounds and actually left a full pot ready for me when I got home at seven.

Sleep is a rumor

Ruined: Middle school carpool lane at Doerre. Someone blocked the exit lane for ten minutes trying to pull out onto Spring Cypress during peak traffic, which made me late for work. Saved: The weather this morning was nice enough that my elementary kids actually put their own jackets on without a thirty minute negotiation.

Three kids, one minivan, zero patience for the carpool line

Ruined: The left lane slowdown on I-45 North right before the Grand Parkway exit on Monday morning. Added twenty minutes to a drive that was already too long. Saved: Hitting every green light on Springwoods Village Parkway on the way back home. It never happens, but when it does it feels like a miracle.

I 45 is my second home

Ay, my youngest stepped right into a fresh mud puddle right as we were walking into school after rain on Tuesday. Brand new sneakers ruined before first bell. Saved: My sweet coworker brought me breakfast tacos when she came into the office. Total lifesaver for my day.

Se habla chaos

Ruined: Dropped a brand new bottle of olive oil right on the kitchen tile. Oil and glass everywhere, absolute mess and money down the drain. Saved: Found three yellow sticker markdown roasts at the Kuykendahl HEB yesterday morning. Meals planned for the week for under twenty dollars.

Sale price or no price

Ruined: My home espresso machine started leaking from the steam wand this morning right before my first cup. Devastating start to a Tuesday. Saved: Stopped by a shop in Old Town Spring and got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and the barista gave me a fresh warmed blueberry scone for free because it was the end of the morning bake batch.

Espresso then everything else

Ruined: A sudden schedule change for our speech therapy appointment off Louetta threw my son into a huge meltdown right in the parking lot. It always takes so much energy to help him regulate after that kind of disruption. Saved: The therapist was so patient and brought his favorite weighted lap pad outside to the car so we could transition smoothly. Small kindnesses like that mean everything.

Ruined: My oldest left his wet soccer jersey at the VERY bottom of his duffel bag since Saturday. Opening that bag was a biohazard experience. Saved: All four boys slept PAST seven on Sunday morning. I almost called an ambulance to check on them but instead I drank warm coffee in peace.

Four boys, one bathroom, pray for me

Ruined: Realized at 9 PM on Sunday that my son needed three poster boards and glue sticks for a project due Monday morning. Saved: My neighbor had spare supplies in her garage and walked them over so I did not have to drag my tired self out late at night.

Doing it all, badly, daily

Same on the Sunday project panic, that happens here way too often.
