Best cut throughs to avoid kuykendahl and louetta around 7:30-8:15 am?

I have to leave my house by 7:10 am now just to get past the intersection of Kuykendahl and Louetta before the school turn lanes back up clear to the shopping center. If I hit that light cycle twice I am completely wrecked for my commute down to the Galleria. Does anyone coming out of the neighborhoods north of Louetta have a reliable way to cut over to TC Jester or Stuebner Airline without getting trapped in elementary carpool line overflow? I do not mind adding two miles if the wheels are actually turning.

If you are coming from the north side of Louetta, do not try to use Cypresswood right now around 7:40 am because the intermediate drop off traffic spills right out onto the main lane. Your best bet if you are heading west toward Stuebner Airline is taking Spring Cypress down to TC Jester and dropping south from there. The light at TC Jester and Louetta moves much faster than Kuykendahl. Just watch your speed near Strack Intermediate because the school zone lights are active right at 7:15 am.

The signal synchronization at Kuykendahl and Louetta has been an open item with Harris County Precinct 3 since the lane expansion project wrap up. The left turn arrows are still on the temporary signal timing plan from last fall. If you take TC Jester down to Cypresswood as suggested, be aware that Pct 4 constables routinely sit in the church parking lot right before the bridge between 7:20 am and 8:00 am. Do not try to make up time on that stretch.

Seconding the warning about the church parking lot on TC Jester. I got pulled over there last year running five minutes late for work after elementary drop off. The officer was nice but my budget did not need that ticket. I started taking the back road behind HEB over to Ella when I need to hit I-45 instead of struggling with Louetta. It saves me at least ten minutes of sitting at red lights.

Ay, that intersection is a nightmare every single August through May! My sister lives off Falvel and she will not even touch Louetta after 7:15 am. If you are trying to get out to 45, cutting through near Cypress Station to hit Ella or Spring Stuebner is so much easier. Gracias to whoever fixed the pothole on Ella near the railroad tracks last month, that used to destroy my tires.

If anyone decides to cut through Northampton to bypass the main roads, please please slow down. We have two elementary bus stops right along Root Road and people have been blowing past the stopped buses at 7:25 am trying to get to Gosling. It is super dangerous with the morning fog right now. Stick to the main thoroughfares if you are in a rush.

Every time someone posts a great side street shortcut on here it works for about four days until eighty other moms start using it too. Then we need a new shortcut thread. Sorry to be cynical, my oldest gets her license next month and the thought of her navigating the Kuykendahl gridlock by herself has given me a permanent twitch.

Thanks everyone. I tried the Spring Cypress to TC Jester route this morning and actually made it past Louetta by 7:28 am without stopping once. That saved my morning. Is the Grand Parkway feeder line getting backed up near Rayford too, or is that mostly clearing up after 8:00 am?

Glad the TC Jester route worked for you! The Grand Parkway feeder near Rayford usually clears up right around 8:05 am after the high school buses finish their second runs. If you pass through before 7:45 am or after 8:10 am you should be completely fine.
