I love that park for the scenery. Just be careful because sometimes the wooded trail markers get confusing if you are not paying attention to the group. I think some of the shops near the area might have coffee specials that morning too but check their pages first.

- Anyone doing Ren Fest in November?
It is a massive 55 acre village so wear good shoes. There are over 400 shops which is fun for browsing. Just be careful because it gets very busy by the afternoon.

- Anyone doing the Old Town Spring Black Friday crawl this year?
The shops usually have really nice local promotions during the crawl and the open air music is lovely. Just remember some places might have different hours than others even if the event starts early. I suggest wearing comfortable shoes because those gravel paths are no joke for your feet.

- Taking kids to old town spring - what is actually worth doing?
It is definitely worth a visit, but you just have to pick the right spots if you have little ones with you! You do not want to drag toddlers into the tight glass and antique shops, that is just pure stress. There are cute candy shops, ice cream, and plenty of shaded boardwalks to walk around. Kids usually love watching the freight trains go by near the tracks on the west side of the town. For parking, if you come on a regular weekend morning before noon, you can often find street parking or spots in the gravel lots off Elm Street or Main Street. Some of the private lots charge five dollars during big festival weekends like Crawfish Fest or autumn events, but on a normal Saturday you can find low cost or free spots if you park a block off Gentry.

Seconding Old Town Spring! It really is great for visitors who want something unique to the area. If you come down this way, plan to spend a couple hours just wandering through the local shops. You can grab lunch at Wunsche Bros Cafe for good traditional Texas food, or if they do not mind waiting in line, Corkscrew BBQ is right here too. Just BIG warning on Corkscrew, the line starts early so do not try to go for a late lunch or they will be sold out!

- Teen first jobs in spring area - who is actually hiring 15/16 year olds right now?
Walking in definitely still works for the small family shops in Old Town Spring! Just do not come on a Saturday afternoon when the shops are packed with weekend tourists. A Tuesday or Wednesday morning or early afternoon when things are quiet is the best time to drop off a resume and introduce themselves to the owner. A lot of boutique owners love hiring local high school kids for weekend help or stocking, especially moving into the busy spring market season.
